My Other Favorite quilts represent a sampling of many techniques I've studied over the years. The quilts range from garden photographs printed on fabric and then overstitched with exactly matching thread colors to pieces that were wet-felted with wool roving and silk to create fantastical images enhanced with silk ribbon embroidery and beads. I have quilts that I've collaged from images cut out of commercial fabric and recombined with heavy threads, and there is a quilt, Spring Botanica, that is entirely thread painted on hand-dyed fabric. There are also two-large hand-stitched pieces comprised of deconstructed fabrics from the thrift store that I've over-dyed with indigo. Atlantis and Boho Boro Blues are the two quilts that I've worked on the longest. It took many months to hand-stitch the pieces together, and the stitching could continue for more years. I like always having a project I can pick up any time and add a few more details with my needle and basket of thread.
